Bedroom InspirAtions.

Xirsi... Some of my fav that i found. too much to say on each one about wat i love about it. but have a look. n hey maybe ull find ur own inspiration within. but i think u should have loads of photos, paint on the walls, lights, quotes, good clutter(if that even makes sense. lol) n whatever else that inspires you. its ur space, n u should make it something that you cant wait to run to everyday. :)

*i think my room would be a combo of all these! the furniture from some, the ideas of how to post photos, the paint/color, the materials/cloths, the storage spaces, and the lighting, and absolutely the serenity feel of things. good luck sis.

  1. i was amused by the confusion with my name. i know for example there is a male version of deeqa i.e. deeqo. i know dudes called xanaan or shukri and heard girls called the same. some names in the north of somalia have other meanings in the south, and sometimes embarrassingly so. maybe xirsi is only a common name in the north. it's a dude's name walaalo lol have you noticed that walaalo has no gender?

    my room is off white and a similar shape/size to the reddish/white picture #8. do you have ikea (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/) in arizona? phoenix? ikea is within my budget or the used furniture market.

    i like your sense of aesthetic and thanks for the inspiration. how i stumbled upon your blog? i was on flickr and found the somalicentric girl and browsed on from there. i haven't noticed somalis expressing their art on the web, and i think it is a good thing. walaalo, i am a dude who happens to share the same sensibility for art as you lol although i spend most of time working with numbers.

    eid mubarak to you and your family walaalo.

  2. Umm. *embarassed. i shall come back when i have something to say to redeem myself. *sigh. i couldve sworn xirsi was a girls' name. oh lord- i think im further adding to my embarassment.

    * walks away swiftly*

    back: umm yea deeq i think is the guy version of deeqa/deeqo. :) dudes called shukri, lakiin? umm thats new. lmao i guess i shouldve made sure walaalo. n yes i did notice how walaalo has no gender. somali's live in norway? thats my ignorant american self speaking. lool. im really not that ignorant. i dont even know why im explaining myself. *looks to the side.

    so yea. we have ikea. wayy too many to be exact.now that i know that all the photos i posted have no relevance to you. ill give u some ideas of what i would love if i were a dude. well i do have men mentality sometimes, so u can trust. :) lool u have found somalicentric eh? well thats my twin on the other side of the states. she's beautiful.

    check cccheeck it out (my dream home-one of many at least): http://freshome.com/2010/09/08/exotic-residence-with-incredible-vistas-and-infinity-pool/

  3. Audubillahi mina shaytani rajim. Bismillahi rahmani rahim.
    i'm not going to click on that link. you're right that deeq is the male version of deeqa upnorth in somalia. deeqo, cabdiyo, and o endings exist too and common in some somalis. shuun is a girl's name upnorth but people in southern somalia would laugh if they hear that (that's the type of embarrassing name situation).

    i actually asked for a study space. somalis are everywhere now. i'm sure you would find some on horsebacks in patagonia. i know there are somalis in iceland :-) let's pray somalia gets peace inshaallah. walaalo, i was watching this islamic lecture yesterday:

  4. just saw the guntiino series. nice (that's all my adjective vocabulary lol) the one your friend took in b/w of herself just takes you back to the good old country. guntiino is out of fashion now but the strict dresscode hasn't helped much either. (i try to emphasize the spiritual side of religion than the fashionable materialism nowadays)
    the most graceful photos i've ever seen are those you took of hooyo. serene.

  5. Hey Xirsi. how are you? lol. i hope u check this message :) anyway. the bachelor pad i referred to it as a bachelor pad- because the space is so open that usually people just realte it to a single guy's spot. but there is nothing acudubillah about the place. the whole architecture of the house is just beautiful in my opinion. trust- i wouldnt send u out to a random website like that. not in my nature. thank u for the compliments once again on the photos. the ones ive done of my hooyo are to this day some of my best photos. i plan on takin more photos of her inshallah. she's just elegeantly beautiful n i believe it shows in her photos. wat else- im hopin to see somali people in spain. lol. i know theyre everywhere but i cant find a community online. :\ lool @ change of terminology depending on which region ur from. im from xamar and a lot of things i say dont make sense to other somali's. lol. hope ur doing amazing inshallah.

  6. lol. i checked the bachelor pad after posting the comment. there was nothing acudubillah about it :-) in fact, it reminded me of a tv documentary of an architect called john lautner:

  7. hehehe glad u went ahead n checked it anyway. i love the architectural detail of the house. lool it seems we have a lot in common. u know more about architecture and design than i expected. hehe i like to assume that im one of a kind. some of my fav architects whose work i studied are frank lloyd wright, mies van der rohe, frank gehry, le corbusier, marcel breuer, and richard meier. umm im still wrkin on finding the somali folks there. everything in barcelona is in catalan-so i usually have to switch it to spanish or english. yes i speak spanish. :) n im plannin on going to hargeisa in the summer inshallah. mybe ill pick up some somalilander speech. hehe
